Last Friday April 23rd, 2010, Arizona's Republican Gov. Jan Brewer signed a controversial immigration bill into law. The bill, SB 1070, has come in response to a spike in violence along the state's border with Mexico. It will make it a state crime not to carry proof of legal immigration status and will require Arizona's state and local police to ask about a person's immigration status if there is "Reasonable Suspicion" that he or she is in the country illegally. Doesn't this actually just give more "TEETH" to the current Federal laws that are supposed to be enforced every day? Mr. Obama is off giving everyone free health care, trying to smash capitalism, wanting to prosecute past administrations, and looking for new ways to take our money (TAXES). When he should be doing one very basic and most important part of the Federal Government... Protecting our borders and the American citizens here LEGALLY!!
Mr. Obama said during a naturalization ceremony for members of the United States Armed Services that such legislation could:
"threaten to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans"
Obama said his administration will be keeping a close eye on Arizona to monitor whether it violates the civil rights of people there. WHAT! Is he for real? Shouldn't he be saying "I will be keeping a close eye on the border"? After everything controversial that this president has said and done, this should reside at the top of everyone's list. Arizona is trying to protect it's people, wake up Mr. Obama. This is the one area where the Federal Government should step in. This is a major national security issue and Mr. Obama is asleep at the wheel. There are people crossing our borders and killing American people. There are hard working LEGAL AMERICANS near our borders that fear for their lives every day. How about we take Mr. Obama, Al Sharpton, George Lopez and Ricky Martin down to the border with no security and one flashlight, then we'll see who is preaching civil rights.
You Liberals can call me whatever you want, but the previously mentioned people have all been spewing crap about how this is Racial profiling and how it violates civil rights. You need to wake up, Americans are being murdered and taken hostage for ransom and being intimidated for drug trafficking routes. This can NOT be allowed to take place within our borders.
I'm absolutely for LEGAL IMMIGRATION and I have worked with many of them throughout the years. From Russia, Mexico, India and Pakistan and they were all very, very good people and good workers and I can guarantee you that they would NOT be crying "Racial Profiling" right now. The only people crying "Racial Profiling" right now are looking for the spotlight and looking to take advantage of a bad situation.
As far as I am concerned, every American should be on the side of Arizona.
