Fox News released some new poll results today and frankly I'm not all that impressed.

If the Congressional election were held today, 42 percent of voters would back the Republican candidate in their district, while 40 percent would support the Democrat candidate

Republicans that said they would back their candidate was 86 percent and Democrats that said they would back their candidate was 80 percent.

For the 2012 presidential election  41 percent said they would back Barack Obama and 41 percent said they would back the Republican candidate.

Independents were at least a little more promising coming in at 38 percent for a Republican nominee and 28 percent for Barack Obama.

Overall support for 2012 potential Republican candidates was as follows:
Mike Huckabee 42 percent.
Mitt Romney 40 percent.
Sarah Palin 37 percent.
Newt Gingrich 32 percent.

Among Republicans only support was as follows:
Sarah Palin 65 percent.
Mike Huckabee 64 percent.
Mitt Romney 59 percent.
Newt Gingrich 51 percent.

Overall support for Barack Obama was 53 percent.
Among Democrats Barack Obama had 91 percent.

Overall support for Nancy Pelosi was 28 percent.
Among Democrats Nancy Pelosi had 49 percent.

On Capital Hill
Overall support was as follows:
Approve of the job the Democrats are doing 37 percent.
Approve of the job the Republicans are doing 31 percent.

Party support was as follows:
70 percent of Democrats approve of the job their representatives are doing.
52 percent of Republicans approve of the job their representatives are doing.

The country is still clearly evenly divided and I'm actually very surprised at the support the Democrats still have with their constituents.  With the growing Tea Party movement and recent Conservative victories I thought that we were making up some ground and Conservatism was on it's way back.  But I'd like to get your opinion.
